First Aid Kit Required Items
We go through Cintas for our first aid kits and they always tell me about ANSI required items that have to be in it. Does OSHA require certain items? We are having issues with people taking the tourniquets, foil blankets, and trauma pads for no documented reason.

to my knowledge OSHA does not have a specific list of items. is this issue cintas is supplying these in a public first aid cabinet? do you have a first aid team who you could supply these with? that is what i do at my site - each of my first aid team members has a first aid bag they keep in their area that has the items you listed. i do not keep them in the public first aid cabinet that all employees have access to.

OSHA only states that the contents of the first aid kits should be "specific to the needs of the workplace". See standard interpretation below. ANSI Z308.1 has a list of first aid supplies that you can reference. It's not incorporated by reference, so it's not legally enforceable, but it great guidance.

In order to combat people taking supplies, you CAN lock it (not recommended, but an option). Check out the standard interpretation below for guidance on this, as well.

Sort of an odd combination of items being taken. I've had some of those items in our kits forever and have had to replace some of them due to the age of the items. As Drew stated, OSHA tends to follow ANSI and require it to be specific to the workplace. Thus, I stock ours with extra sizes of bandages due to more abrasion issues and also more burn gel due to welding, torching, etc. I also include Calgonate in our kits nearest to our washbay due to use of the chemical AlumaBrite.

Sounds like someone is prepping are the tourniquets the lil rubber ones? or a CAT type?
