Portable eyewash station inspections
Sorry for all the eyewash station questions. We have a portable eyewash that's pretty dirty and needs to be refilled. Is anyone aware if what OSHA/ANSI would recommend as far as how to inspect these units? Thinking about cleaning it up and refilling it with clean water to put it back in service

Good Friday morning...this week, I am a firm believer that we need more Fridays and less Mondays. LOL
Anyway, the following may be a good resource as to emergency eye wash stations. I inspect ours weekly and our contracted custodial cleaning company cleans these units nightly, Monday through Friday.

We have done away with all our "non-plumbed" units Jason. We found the "non plumbed" units much harder to keep sanitized/cleaned. The stainless steel units/bowels are easier to wipe down and keep clean.

The operation/manufacturer manual should have all the answers you are looking for (i.e., choosing a location, mixing instructions, inspection & maintenance, etc.).

Jason, I can send you some info on what’s required if you need some help. It’s a little hard to tell branding on the unit you have. I’m guessing that you will at least need to add an additive to the water. If I can help you shoot an email to fred@quadcitysafety.com.

Just follow the manufacturers instructions.
